The Ministry to Persons with Disabilities (MPWDs) of the Church of Pentecost has reaffirmed its stance to continue supporting PWDs with the appropriate resources to play active and productive roles in society.
“Persons with disabilities are also children of God, and they deserve salvation,” said a National Executive Committee Member of the ministry, Professor Augustina Naami.
She said this at the presentation of food items, detergents, toiletries and bottled water worth GH₵30,000 to about 150 PWDs at Agorve, near Akatsi in the Akatsi South Municipality of the Volta Region on Saturday (August 29).
Some of the beneficiaries were also from Akatsi and nearby Gbalixome.
Professor Naami, who is an Associate Professor of Disability and Social Work at the Department of Social Work of the University of Ghana, Legon, maintained that the salvation of
PWDs must be the central priority of every church and its members.
“Let us always look for them and ensure they participate fully in church activities,” she added.
In a sermon, Pastor Prosper Kpeli, who is in charge of the Agorve District of the Church of Pentecost, said practical love for humanity was love for God.

He pointed out that Christ demonstrated love for all mankind, without any form of discrimination, adding that the church must follow that example all the time.
Pastor Kpeli pointed out that helping the less privileged in society was one way of spreading the gospel widely and effectively, and gave an assurance that the Church of Pentecost would not depart from its posture to help PWDs.
“This is because PWDs are an integral part of society, like all of us,” he added.
A spokesman for the beneficiaries, Kwashi Vigbedor, thanked the MPWDs and described the gesture as highly touching.
Present were Pastor Alexander Aboagye, National Coordinator of MPWDs of the Church of Pentecost, and coordinators of the ministry from the Northern and Western Sectors of the church.
