Marshallans donate to Accra Psychiatric Hospital

The Noble Order of the Knights and Ladies of Marshall, a Catholic-friendly society, has donated items worth more than GH¢10,000 to Accra Psychiatric Hospital.

Council 74 of the Knights of Marshall and Court 67 of the Ladies of Marshall, both under the Accra West Regional Council, sponsored the donation.

It was done under the auspices of the Marshallan Relief and Development Services (MAREDES), the charity wing of the noble order.

The items included waste bins, toiletries, cooking oil, bags of rice, plastic chairs, soft drinks, bathroom slippers, biscuits and clothing.

The group also interacted with some of the patients at the facility and shared some of the goodies they donated.

Charity is love

Presenting the items, the Grand Knight of the Council 74, Brother John Paul Abraham, said the donation was part of the group’s regular charity activities, in fulfilment of the commandment of God.

“We are here to offer our love and sacrifices. This has been enshrined in the Bible and also connotes the tenets of the Noble Order which is charity,” he said.

The Noble Lady of Court 67, Sister Marian Tsegah, said the Noble Order would continue to support the Accra Psychiatric Hospital on a regular basis as part of its charity activities.

Receiving the items, a Senior Nurse at the female ward of the hospital, Mrs Lydia Asiedu, lauded the Noble Order for the gesture and promised that they would be put to good use for the benefit of the patients at the facility.

“Most of the patients we have here have been neglected by their relatives and if not for the support like this, we won’t be able to take care of them,” she said.

She appealed to other organisations to support the hospital.
