Kidnapper of 10-year-old boy arrested

The Northern Regional Police Command, in collaboration with their Bono East counterpart, has arrested a man who kidnapped a 10-year-old boy in Kintampo in the Bono East Region and demanded a GH¢20,000 ransom for his release.

The suspect, Mahamadu Fulani, a herdsman, was arrested in Yendi in the Northern Region on Wednesday, January 8, 2020.
The victim has also been rescued and is to be reunited with his father on Monday, January 13, 2020.
Police
The Northern Regional Crime Officer, Superintendent Mr Kwabena Otuo Acheampong, who confirmed the arrest, said the suspect had been transferred to the police in Kintampo in the Bono East Region where he was alleged to have kidnapped the boy.
He said the arrest of the suspect was as a result of a collaborative effort between the two police commands.
Herdsman
Briefing the Daily Graphic in Tamale, Supt Otuo Acheampong said the suspect,  a herdsman, took the boy along with cattle belonging to the victim's father to the grazing field on January 6, 2020 in Kintampo in the Bono East Region and later called the boy's father to demand a GH¢20,000 ransom for the release of his son.
He said true to the demand, the suspect failed to return the boy and left the grazing field with him.
Supt. Otuo Acheampong said investigations by the police led to the arrest of the suspect two days later on January 8, 2020 in Yendi.
