Karpowership Ghana Company Limited has been recognised for its outstanding commitment to environmental sustainability and responsible operations after winning two prestigious awards at the 2026 Health, Environment, Safety and Security (HESS) Awards.
The company was honoured with the Best Environmental Protection Campaign Award 2026 and the Best Company in Environmental Management Practices Award 2026, in recognition of its dedication to environmental stewardship, regulatory compliance and sustainable business practices.
A statement issued by the company said the achievement underscored Karpowership Ghana’s commitment to maintaining the highest environmental standards while ensuring the reliable delivery of electricity to Ghana.
Environmental monitoring
The statement said that as part of its environmental commitment, the company undertakes continuous environmental monitoring, including air quality, noise, effluent and sediment analysis to assess and minimise the environmental impact of its operations.
It said the company also implemented effective waste management systems, robust chemical control and management procedures, efficient resource management covering fuel, lubricants, water and energy consumption, greenhouse gas emissions monitoring and environmental performance analysis.
“In addition, Karpowership Ghana regularly conducts environmental awareness and training programmes for employees and contractors, promptly addresses environmental non-conformities through corrective actions, and actively engages stakeholders through environmental campaigns and community outreach initiatives.
These efforts are complemented by impactful corporate social responsibility programmes that promote environmental sustainability and improve the well-being of host communities,” the statement said.
The latest recognition follows another successful performance at the HESS Awards in 2025, when the company received two awards in different categories, demonstrating its consistent commitment to excellence in health, safety, environmental management and sustainability.
Testament to hard work
Commenting on the achievement, the Communications Manager of Karpowership Ghana, Sandra Amarquaye, said: “These awards are a testament to the hard work, commitment and professionalism of our entire team.
