International Petroleum Conference, downstream awards open July 16

This year’s Ghana International Petroleum Conference (GhIPCon 2026) will take place on July 16 and 17 at the Palms Convention Centre of the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel in Accra.

This year’s conference, which is the seventh edition, will climax with the second edition of the Ghana Downstream Awards and Gala Night 2026 at the Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City, Accra, on Saturday, July 18.

The GhIPCon is being organised by the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), in partnership with the Chamber of Bulk Oil Distributors (CBOD) and the Chamber of Oil Marketing Companies (COMAC).

It is under the auspices of the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition.

Presidential presence

President John Dramani Mahama is expected to deliver the keynote address as the Special Guest of Honour at the conference, which will have in attendance the Minister of Energy and Green Transition, Dr John Abdulai Jinapor.

The conference is also expected to attract a strong international presence, including representatives from government institutions, multinational energy companies, indigenous petroleum firms, financial institutions, development organisations, investors, and technology providers seeking opportunities within Ghana's growing energy market.

On the theme: "Building a Resilient Downstream: Policy, Innovation and Investment for Growth", GhIPCon 2026 will bring together policymakers, regulators, petroleum industry leaders, investors, development partners, academia, and technology innovators from Ghana, Africa, and beyond to engage in high-level discussions on the future of the downstream petroleum and energy sector.

Over the years, GhIPCon has evolved into one of the sub-region's premier petroleum industry platforms, serving as a strategic forum for addressing critical sector challenges, fostering collaboration, attracting investment, and driving innovation across the petroleum value chain.

The 2026 edition will feature keynote presentations, panel discussions, executive dialogues, technical sessions, exhibitions, business-to-business engagements, and networking opportunities designed to stimulate meaningful conversations around policy reform, infrastructure development, sustainability, digital transformation, energy security, financing, and human capital development.

Key conference discussions will address the strengthening of downstream regulatory frameworks for resilience, the integration of natural gas as a transition fuel into the downstream value chain, digital innovation, artificial intelligence and smart logistics, sustainability and the evolving energy transition agenda, investment opportunities within Africa's downstream petroleum sector, future-ready workforce development and skills transformation, supply chain resilience and infrastructure development, and regional petroleum trade and energy security.

Driving collaboration, growth

GhIPCon 2026 comes at a pivotal moment for the petroleum industry as stakeholders navigate evolving market dynamics, energy transition, technological advancements, regulatory reforms, and increasing investment demands.

The conference seeks to provide a platform for practical dialogue, knowledge sharing, strategic partnerships, and collaborative solutions that will contribute to a more resilient, efficient, competitive, and sustainable downstream petroleum industry.

Industry stakeholders, investors, exhibitors, sponsors, development partners, academia and professionals who wish to participate in GhIPCon will have to register from now, a statement from the Organising Committee pointed out.

Awards, Gala Night

The statement explained that the Ghana Downstream Awards and Gala Night 2026 has been established to recognise and celebrate outstanding achievements, innovation, leadership, operational excellence, and significant contributions to the development of Ghana's downstream petroleum industry.

Aside from the high-profile participation in the event, it will serve as a prestigious platform for executive networking, industry recognition, and building relationships among decision-makers within Ghana's energy ecosystem.

The black-tie event will feature an evening of dining, live entertainment, and the unmistakable buzz of an industry coming together to toast its own success.
