Graphic, AMA hold Farmers Fair today

The maiden edition of the Graphic Farmers Fair will open tomorrow (December 5) at the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) Head Office in Accra as part of efforts to amplify the activities of stakeholders in the agricultural value chain.

The Farmers Fair is an agricultural based trade event designed by the Graphic Communications Group LTD (GCGL) in collaboration with the AMA, to bring together farmers, processors, consumers and other stakeholders in agriculture to engage on how to drive growth within the sector.

The Director of Marketing at the GCGL, Mr Franklin Sowa in an interview, said the event would also showcase agricultural inputs and supplies, such as fresh farm produce, for sale.

“Organic farm produce and equipment will be on sale at competitive prices,” he said.

Mr Sowa explained that although it was the first edition of the fair, preparations had long gone on to ensure that participants got the full benefit of what the event was intended to achieve.

“Small, medium and large-scale farmers will have the opportunity to meet various suppliers in the farming value chain,” he said.

He also noted that the public were especially encouraged to participate in the fair to have access to hygienically fresh farm produce for Christmas.

Seminar

The fair will run from December 5-7 and will include a seminar intended to enhance the capacity of farmers and introduce them to new technologies.

The seminar will be powered by Solidaridad West Africa, an organisation that focuses on stimulating sustainable supply chains through innovations in production, marketing and trade relations, landscape management and policy enabling.

In these efforts, Solidaridad simultaneously addresses food security, nutrition and community development.

Media partners for the event include the Daily Graphic, TV 3, Onua FM, Connect FM and Akoma FM.

Interested persons or organisations interested in exhibiting products or services at the fair can contact the GCGL Marketing Team on 0277000711 or 0243315591.
