Ghana Chamber of Telecommunications donates to National Ambulance Service

The Ghana Chamber of Telecommunications (GCT) has donated some medical supplies to the National Ambulance Service (NAS) part of the mobile industry’s effort to support the national fight against the coronavirus disease.

The medical items including Five thousand (5,000) pieces of nitrile hand gloves and One thousand five hundred (1,500) pieces of nose masks were presented to the NAS.

 The donation was aimed at boosting the operations of NAS and supporting their engagements with the public to effectively reduce the spread of the novel COVID-19 on Thursday  June 11, 2020.
 
At a short presentation, Dr. Kenneth Ashigbey, CEO of the GCT said "We appreciate the danger that comes with contracting the diseases especially those at the frontline in defending the populace against the disease and we must all support you to be able to protect us," said Dr. Ashigbey.

 He  added, “as a Chamber, we are committed to also remember those who are at the forefront dealing directly with affected persons. We have considered NAS who since the first case was recorded in Ghana, have been working tirelessly, selflessly and swiftly to combat this pandemic and we are here to showcase our commitment with this donation” Dr. Ing. Ashigbey explained.
 
Receiving the items, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of NAS, Professor Ahmed Nuhu Zakariah, thanked the Chamber and its staff for the donation.

He said the Service needs the supplies for a swift delivery of their services, hence the love and thoughts behind the gesture is immeasurable.
 
Prof Zakariah added that with the Chamber showcasing itself as a partner in supporting the development of NAS, he was optimistic that there would be more collaboration in the future to further enhance the delivery of emergency services and the capability of the service.

He said the items will augment service's operations. “The men and women who work for NAS would know that whatever they are doing, people are observing and are appreciative of their work.”
