GCU management, new VC pay courtesy call on Okyehene

The newly appointed Vice Chancellor of Garden City University (GCU), Prof. Eric K. Ofori, with members of the university’s management team, has paid a courtesy call on the Paramount Chief of Kyebi, Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin II, the Okyenhene, at his palace.

The visit served a dual purpose: to introduce the new vice chancellor, who is a native of Kyebi, to the Okyenhene, and to formally invite him to the upcoming investiture ceremony early next month.

Prof. Ofori, the former Dean of the School of Allied Health Sciences at the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) in Ho, was recently appointed to head GCU, which is based in Kenyasi in the Ashanti Region.

Council

Addressing the Okyenhene and his traditional council, Prof. Ofori expressed his deep appreciation to Osagyefuo for his steadfast support over the years.

He noted that as a son of the soil, it was essential to formally present himself to the king upon taking up the high office and to personally extend the invitation to his investiture on July 9, 2026.

Welcoming the delegation, Osagyefuo Ofori Panin II expressed strong confidence in Prof. Ofori’s leadership, stating that the new VC would live up to expectations and elevate the image of GCU.

The Okyenhene urged Prof. Ofori to safeguard the excellent reputation he had built in academia and to bring his wealth of experience to bear in his new role.

He further cautioned him against the temptations of worldly gains that could tarnish his integrity.

Courage

"It takes courage and character to live an honest life, even in modest means, while watching others enrich themselves through fraud," the Okyenhene advised.

He emphasised that strong character is the ultimate shield against vice, enabling a leader to withstand temptation and navigate challenges without compromising their values.

The Okyenhene wished the new Vice Chancellor success in his tenure and promised to honour the invitation to attend the investiture ceremony.
