Speaking to the media, Lieutenant General Akwa said yesterday’s explosion caused serious destruction.

Lieutenant general Akwa who was touring the explosion site was in the company of the Minister for Defense, Dominic Newton and the Chief of Army Staff William Azure Ayamdoas well as other officers to ascertain the cause of damage.

He allayed fears of residents saying there is no fear of residents saying there is no fear for people living in and around Michael Camp.

“One thing that we want to ask the public to note, that those who live within this committee if they should come across any foreign object, they should not touch it. If you find anything metal, anything that is foreign within you committee don’t touch it, just make a report to Michael Camp a commanding officer, and experts from DAD will go and examine it and diffuse it, that is the major appeal we want to make. But the assurance is that everything is under control."

Lieutenant  General Akwa indicated that major investigations into the incident have begun to establish the cause of the explosion.
