Gbawe Montessori wins Accra Group 2 spelling contest
Fan club members of the Gbawe International Montessori School Accra were elated when the contestants representing their club in the ongoing National Junior Graphic Fan Club Spelling Competition won in Group Two.

Around 10.00 a.m. on the day of the competition, all the schools taking part in the competition gathered at the Acropolis Schools also at Gbawe, which hosted the contest.
The other schools which participated in the competition were the Gbawe International Montessori School and Silent Star Academy.
Before the contest began, Acropolis Schools representatives waited for all the other contestants to be seated before they finally emerged from one of the classrooms and walked majestically to their seats amid deafening cheers which might have been a trick to intimidate the other schools.
During the first round, it was clear that the competition was going to be a-host-and-win situation because anytime Acropolis Schools spelt a word correctly the cheers that accompanied the performance from the audience boosted the confidence of the spellers.
It was, therefore, not surprising that after the first round they were leading with 18 points while Gbawe Montessori and Silent Star had 15 and nine points respectively.
After a keen contest, Gbawe International Montessori showed class and bagged 43 points, followed closely by the Silent Star Academy with 39 points. Acropolis Schools came third with 36 points.
Unfortunately, when the host school lost, one of the contestants was seen wiping tears from her eyes while the other two left quietly. At that time their supporters had already deserted them and returned to their classrooms, disappointed.
Gbawe International Montessori School was represented by Caleb Baidoo, Delphina Boye and Michael Odame.
