As a result, gas export to the onshore processing plant of the Ghana National Gas Company (Ghana Gas) has been temporarily halted.
According to a terse statement issued by Tullow in Accra yesterday, it was working hard to reinstate gas export as a matter of priority.

Reacting to the announcement, the Corporate Affairs Manager of Ghana Gas, Mr Alfred Ogbamey, told the Daily Graphic that the development would definitely result in an interruption in the company’s ability to produce lean gas, LPG, condensates and pentanes.

He said it would also disrupt the supply of natural gas to the company to produce and deliver to the Volta River Authority (VRA) and other markets.

“As for the impact it will have on power generation, the VRA will be in a proper position to determine. But it is known that we produce cheaper, more cost-effective and reliable power for our customers and we know that even if the power companies generate power from alternative sources, it will be at a higher cost,” Mr Ogbamey added.
