Former Presby Moderator resigns over church’s decision on same-sex marriage

The decision of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG) to recall its immediate past Moderator, the Very Rev. Dr Yaw Frimpong-Manso, as part of measures to cut ties with its United States of America counterpart over same-sex marriage took another twist yesterday with the former Moderator resigning from the church.

The Very Rev. Dr Frimpong-Manso has been angered by the fact that the PCG leadership failed to consult him over the PCG’s decision to sever its long-standing relationship with the Presbyterian Church of the USA (PCUSA) and also a letter that ordered him to wind up his activities in the US and return to Ghana by December 31, 2015.

Reason for quitting
