FOGET quiz: JHS students to conduct research
Finalists of this year’s edition of the Foundation For Generational Thinkers (FOGET) Quiz will be required to identify specific problems in the country and provide solutions to them.
Once they are able to do so, their work would be vetted by a three-member panel after which the best would be selected and eventually declared the winner.

“The project shall require the students to conduct research into the identified problems, go on a field trip to the relevant agencies to conduct interviews to find out what is being done to address the problems and provide practical solutions to them,” the President of FOGET, Mr Prosper Dan Afetsi, said at the launch of this year’s edition in Accra.
Contestants
He indicated that each contesting school would be required to present a minimum of a 40-page research paper after their research works.
“FOGET has decided to expand the scope of the competition from theoretical quiz competition to include practical hands-on challenge.
This is to say we will begin with a quiz and end with a challenge,” he said.
Mr Afetsi said the schools quiz and challenge competition formed part of FOGET’s educational campaign agenda to promote education in the country.
Commencement
He said in fulfilling its mandate and bringing hopes and aspirations to students, it began to pilot the quiz in June 2016 with only six schools, adding that the huge success of the contest made many schools to declare their interest to contest.
He said the first prize winner would take home a trophy, flat screen desktop computer, GH¢1,000 , educational materials and souvenirs from sponsors.
The second prize winner would have a laser jet printer, GH¢500 worth of educational materials and souvenirs while the third place winner would receive laser jet printer, GH¢300, educational materials and souvenirs. The fourth placed school would take home a laser jet printer, educational materials and souvenirs from sponsors.
“All contestants from the group stage shall receive certificates of participation for the candidates and their respective schools. Semi finalists would receive consolation prizes.
About 40 junior high and primary schools would take part in this year’s quiz.
