This was contained in a press release signed by the Chief of Staff, Mr. Kwadwo Mpiani. The release said that the action by the government was meant to bring home to all concerned the strategic importance of VRA to the economic development of the country.

It added that the government was no doubt about the urgent need for critical reform of the entire sector. It would be recalled that in March this year, the Senior Staff Association of the VRA petitioned the President to institute a committee of enquiry into the stewardship of the former VRA boss, Dr. Charles Wereko Brobby.

The government, in response called for an audit, which was conducted by the Auditor-General in which the Chief Executive was absolved of any wrong-doing. Government early this month accepted the resignations of Dr. Wereko Brobby and the Deputy Chief Executive, Mr. Jabesh Amissah Arthur, and subsequently dissolved the board.
