Traditional warriors from both sides have taken over Kablama community in the Bole District and as a result security forces have not been able to enter the town.

The clashes reportedly started on Wednesday night and Graphic Online understands that the traditional warriors have laid ambush at the outskirts of the town thereby making it impossible for the security forces to enter the town to take control of the situation.

The clash was said to have been sparked by a chieftaincy impasse between two royal families in the community.

Information picked by Graphic Online indicates that other traditional warriors from adjourning communities are said to be thronging to the Kablama community to offer support to their loyalist.

When contacted, the Bole District Chief Executive, Mr James Jaga confirmed the incident and said he was on his way to the place to assess the situation.

He said he was in Tamale when the incident started and that he could not give enough details about the situation.

Sources within the security setup in the Northern region also confirmed the volatile nature of the situation.

Kablama is noted for illegal mining in the area.

When Graphic Online contacted the Northern Regional Crime Officer, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Mr John Anane, he said the police was aware of the protracted chieftaincy dispute in the town but could not confirm whether the clashes had led to the death of some persons.
