Fire Service team visits Atuabo Gas Plant

Officials of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) have paid a working visit to the Atuabo Gas Processing Plant in the Western Region to ascertain its preparedness to deal with emergency situations.

Led by the Deputy Chief Fire Officer in charge of Operations, Mr William Jesse Mensah, the team toured the gas facility, including the evacuation centre of the natural gas liquids (NGLs) from the Atuabo enclave to the market.

They also visited the gas processing facility to assess the structures and systems put in place to ascertain whether they were adequate to protect the plant and the neighbouring communities from any possible emergency.

 

The team visited the liquified petroleum gas (LPG) loading gantry as well to familiarise themselves with operations at the gantry.

Management commended

Speaking to the Daily Graphic after the visit, Mr Mensah commended the management and personnel of Ghana Gas for putting in place safe systems to protect the facility and the workers.

He gave the assurance that GNFS would continue to support the operations of the gas processing plant and adjourning facilities.

Strict standard

The Director of Operations of Ghana Gas,  Robert Kofi Lartey, said in order to sustain the safety of the facility, management was implementing high international standards and environmental regulations.

During the project, he said the company didn’t record any injury, adding that it would continue to implement safety mechanisms to protect the facility and the workers.
