Fire Service man murdered by unknown persons at Damongo

A 35-year-old personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has been gruesomely murdered by unknown assailants at Bruto, a farming community near Damongo in the West Gonja District in the Northern Region.

Identified as Cosmos Mahama Elliasu, from the fire department at Sawla, his body was discovered in farm at Bruto with multiple gunshot wounds on the chest and chin.

His family members told the police that he went to Damongo on a visit but failed to return home in the evening.

When a search party was dispatched to the bush, they found him dead near his farm with the multiple gunshots wounds.

The Public Relations Officer of the Northern Regional Police Command, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Mr. Mohammed Yussif Tanko told Graphic Online the family members reported the incident to the police at about 11:00pm on Saturday April 14,2018.

He said the body of the deceased has since been deposited at the Damongo hospital for autopsy whilst the police has launched investigations into the incident.
