Fire guts office at Korle Bu hospital pharmacy

An office at the Pharmacy Department of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital was gutted by fire on Monday afternoon.

Fire personnel who responded to the distress call were however able to put the fire under control .

According to the Public Relations Officer at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, Mustapha Salifu, a faulty air conditioner at the office was suspected to have triggered the fire around 2pm.  

According to him, the timely intervention by the fire service prevented it from spreading to other offices of the department.

He said no patients were injured and debunked rumours that the fire had destroyed the medical stores of the hospital.

He assured the public that the extent of damage would not affect patient care and operations at the hospital.
