Fetu Afahye Youth Colloquium Aug 30

The Cape Coast Youth Development Association will organise a Youth Colloquium on Wednesday, August 30, at the Emindzimadze Palace in the Central Region.

The event, which forms part of activities marking the 2017 Oguaa Fetu Afahye of the people of the Oguaa Traditional Area, is being organised in collaboration with the National Youth Authority, Medical Students Association of the University of Cape Coast and the Central Regional Boxing Authority.

Theme

According to Mr Cole Arthur, head of the organising committee, the colloquium, on the theme: "The Falling Standard of Education in the Cape Coast Metropolitan Area: The Responsibilities of Stakeholders and The Relevance of Technical and Vocational Education", is meant to help shape the consciousness of the youth of Cape Coast.

"The event has been certified by the Oguaa Traditional Council and we are expecting all the youth of the area as well as the invited guests to honour this invitation to mouth our youth for a better future," he said.

Resource persons

Resource persons for the event are Dr Ekwow Spio-Garbrah, former Ambassador to Mexico, a former Minister of Education, and the immediate past Minister for Trade and Industry, Dr J. O. Attram of the Counselling Department of the University of Cape Coast, and Rev. Felix Asante Bordoh, an advocate for technical and vocational education and an entrepreneur.

Barbara Asher Ayisi, Deputy Minister of Education and MP for the Cape Coast North Constituency, is the Guest of Honour, while Prof. Eric Nyarko Sampson of the Guidance and Counseling Department of the University of Cape Coast will chair the programme.
