Farmers group steals show at march past

A farmer based group in the Bosomtwe District in the Ashanti Region put up a  spectacular show at the 57th Independence Day parade at Kuntanase.

The farmer-based group, numbering about 60 and dressed in their various farm gears, carried various farming implements .

When the name of the farmers group was mentioned, spectators started screaming and when they got to the dais to greet the district chief executive and the other dignitaries, the crowd gave them a standing ovation which  lasted for about four minutes.

When the farmers were called to salute, they started exhibiting the various ways they performed  their duties in the farm and their various centres they operated from.

In the parade itself, 19 institutions comprising 12 basic and seven  senior high schools, three cadet corps and farmer-based groups took part in the march past.

After the marching, Joy Standard School came first at the basic schools level while Jachie Anglican Primary and Fame and Fortune schools placed second and third respectively.

In the junior high school category, Agape International, Adagya D/A and God’s Grace International took the first, second and third positions respectively.

Opoku Ware Academy came first at the SHS level while Jachie Pramso and Saint George Senior High schools placed second and third respectively, and were all given various prizes.

The overall best award went to Agape Academy, which was presented with a set of jerseys.

The best cadet award went  to the Jachie Pramso SHS cadet corps.

The prizes were certificates, plaques, footballs and sets of jerseys.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Bosomtwe District Chief Executive, Madam Veronica Antwi-Adjei, called for  patriotism from  every Ghanaian.

She commended the schoolchildren for their outstanding performance on the day, and urged them to learn hard in their various schools to merit the huge sums of money being spent on them.
