Farmers double yields with new technology
Maize farmers in Ghana now have higher chances of increasing yield irrespective of weather conditions following the release of a new method, the Wynca Sunshine Maize High Yield Solution System.

The new crop solutions plan has been piloted in nine maize growing communities in the country where farmers are able to double their yields.
Following these successes recorded during the pilot programme that was conducted in collaboration with the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA), Wynca would be holding a field day on one of the demonstration fields tomorrow to increase awareness of its improved maize solutions.
Among areas where the piloting was done are, Upper Manya Krobo and Yilo Krobo districts in the Eastern Region, Nkoranza North and Nkoranza South districts in the Brong Ahafo Region and Boankra in the Ashanti Region.
Results
“After several years of development processes, we are very encouraged by the results of the first Maize High Solutions,” the Sales and Marketing Manager, Mr James Zhang said in a statement.
He added that: “The partnership with MoFA is an excellent example of what can be accomplished when public and private organisations work together for a common good, providing powerful new tools to help farmers overcome climate change challenges and increase food production.”
According to Mr Zhang, the results demonstrated the power of advanced technology to help the farmers despite the unpredictable weather conditions and increased crop volatility due to climate change.

The statement said as a complete agricultural solutions company, Wynca Sunshine also engaged farmers regularly to ensure correct utilisation of its products and also to boost agriculture productivity in addition to the supply of Wynca Sunshine seeds, selected herbicides, fertilisers and insecticides.
“Our plan is to get farmers to use Wynca Sunshine inputs correctly while increasing yields significantly. This, we believe, will go a long way to complement the government’s agenda of increasing food production and creating jobs,” the statement said.

Wynca Sunshine was registered in Ghana in 2005 and waspart of the Wynca Group established in 1965. It is listed as one of the most valuable companies in China since September 2001.
It is also among the top 500 manufacturing enterprises in China and is part of the global top 20 enterprises in agriculture chemistry.
The company currently has branches in Cote d’Ivoire, Nigeria and Mali with plans to cover other countries such as Kenya, South Africa and Benin.
