Govt committed to providing affordable housing to Ghanaians - Housing Minister

The problem of the high cost of accommodation in the country is close to being a thing of the past, the Works and Housing Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, has assured the public.

The sector minister at a working visit to assess some affordable housing projects by the government in the Greater Accra region said the government was working assiduously to meet the housing needs of the populace. 

He said five out of the six housing units in Kpone and Tema communities 22 are in their final stages of completion, making a total number of 1007 single-bedroom units and 508 two-bedroom units.

Mr Oppong-Nkrumah also gave an assurance that the government was commitment to ensuring that people have access to houses in the country.

“Shelter is a basic human need, and the government is doing all it can to support for it to happen,” he said, admonishing developers to reduce their cost of development in order to enable the project to be affordable to people, particularly the middle-class.
