The alleged fraudster, Daniel Adbi, demanded GH₵6,000.00 from Afreh, the complainant, with the promise of facilitating the recruitment of his two siblings into the Customs Excise and Preventive Service (CEPS) but failed to honour his promise after taking GH₵3,500.00 as part payment from the complainant.

Adbi, who was charged with defrauding when he appeared before the Adjabeng Court 1, presided over by Mr Arit Nsemoh, pleaded not guilty. Presenting the facts to the court, the prosecutor, Inspector Konadu, said Adbi assured Afreh of obtaining jobs for his two siblings with CEPS where he claimed there were vacancies.

Inspector Konadu said Adbi asked Afreh to make a part payment of GH₵6,000.  Afreh then made a cash payment of GH₵3,500 to Adbi with the agreement that the rest of the amount would be paid after his siblings had been employed.

Inspector Konadu explained that after collecting the money, Adbi went into hiding till he was discovered by Afreh at the Tesano Police Station for committing a similar offence.
Afreh reported his case to the police, leading to his arrest.
