Embrace change, innovation in your careers - Prof Amartey advises graduates
The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), Prof. Abednego Okoe Feehi Amartey, has advised graduates of the university to embrace change and be innovative in their chosen careers.
He said besides applying the knowledge and skills acquired from the university, they also needed to be creative and disciplined to survive in the fast-changing world, adding: "Change is unpredictable and unstoppable, but manageable."

Prof. Amartey also urged the graduates to always remember their families, communities and the nation as they climbed the ladder of success in their respective professions.
He gave the advice at the first session of the university’s 12th Congregation for 564 students of the School of Law and the Faculty of Information Technology and Communication Studies.
The congregation, which is being organised in four sessions, is expected to award diplomas, undergraduate and postgraduate degrees to 3,520 students, 856 of whom were given diplomas,1,994 undergraduate and 670 postgraduate degrees.
New courses
Prof. Amartey said the university had received accreditation for the introduction of a Master of Science in Insurance Risk Management programme for the 2020/2021 academic year.
Accreditation for a Master of Science in Procurement, he said, was also at its final stages of approval and would be rolled out in the next academic year.
He added that the university had also been granted approval to run four of its master's degree programmes by distance learning, which would be offered in a blended mode of more than 70 per cent online learning interactions and activities, starting in the 2020/2021 academic year.
Infrastructure Development
On infrastructure, Prof. Amartey said work on new projects started in 2019 were on schedule, in spite of the emergence of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
The projects include an Astro-turf football field, two hostel facilities and a multipurpose twin-tower.
Commendation
The Council Chairman of UPSA, Dr Kofi Ohene-Konadu, said the university had achieved many successes under Prof. Amartey’s leadership, for which he commended the V-C and his team for their stewardship.
He also acknowledged the fact that in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, the management of the university had switched academic activities onto an online platform which enabled the school to successfully complete the second semester of the 2019/2020 academic year.
