ECG replacing destroyed Dagomba tower line
The Electricity Company of Ghana is spending close to GH¢ 300,000 to replace the tower lines and power conductors that were destroyed during the February 14, 2020 fire incident which ravaged a slum along the Dagomba Line within the Oforikrom Municipality in the Ashanti Region.
The fire, which occurred in the evening of February 14, destroyed the tower line that linked the Ridge substation to the Airport station of the company.

This affected power supply to areas such as Manhyia, Buokrom Estates, Tafo, Aboabo and the Airport area.

Addressing the media during a tour of the site, the Manager in charge of Major Projects of ECG in the Ashanti Region, Mr Frederick Kwabena Bediako, said the company was working around the clock to replace the damaged towers and to link the substation.
He said even though power had been restored to the affected areas using the alternative power supply lines, there would be the need to replace the damaged tower and conductors.
He said it would cost the company close to GH¢ 300,000 to finish the project which, he said, should be completed within two weeks.

So far, he said, one of the circuits on the double circuit tower had been restored but yet to pick the load on it. However, he said within two weeks, everything should be completed for the line to be restored.
While admitting that there had been few power outages, he said they were usually occasioned during the transfer of power from one line to the other during working hours.
He said there were no sustained power outages in the metropolis and reassured the residents of continuous power supply in the region.
