Driver defiles girl, 10
A 52-year-old driver, Anthony Nii Aryee Okai, is standing trial before an Accra Circuit Court for allegedly defiling a 10-year-old girl.
The driver is said to have lured the victim to his room, covered her mouth with a handkerchief and increased the volume of his television so high that no one could hear the girl screaming and forcibly had sex with her.

He pleaded guilty to the offence of defilement of a child under 16 years before the court presided over by Mrs Rita Abrokwa Doko. The court, therefore, remanded Okai in custody to reappear on May 27, 2019.
Prosecution
Prosecuting, Sergeant Opoku Aniagyei said the complainant, who is the victim’s mother, lives in the same compound house with Okai at James Town, a suburb of Accra.
He said on May 1, 2019, the victim attended nature’s call and on her way back, Okai lured her into his room and locked the door.
Sergeant Aniagyei said Okai switched on the television set in his room and turned the volume so high that no one on the compound could hear the victim scream.
The prosecutor said he then used a handkerchief to cover his victim’s mouth, put her on a mattress and removed her pant, leaving her dress on. He then “inserted his penis into the victim’s private part and had sexual intercourse with her”, the prosecution said.
After the act, prosecution said, the victim quickly rushed to her mother to inform her and the mother lodged a complaint at the James Town Police Station.
Sergeant Aniagyei said a police medical report issued to the victim for a medical examination confirmed the act and the accused was arrested.
