Presenting the case, Chief Inspector Oppong Twumasi told the court that the suspect was discharged from hospital on Thursday January, 16, 2020 but was immediately arrested to assist investigations

Mireku pleaded not guilty but the court, presided over by Mrs Dorinda Arthur Smith, refused to grant him bail to enable him to assist the police with investigations.

Deaths

The accident at Dompoase on the midnight of January 14, 2020, claimed 34 lives and left over 50 others injured.

Prosecutor, Chief Inspector Oppong Twumasi, said Mireku was first presented to the District Magistrate Court but his lawyer, Mr John Benson, raised issues to the effect that the court had no jurisdiction to handle the case.

The district magistrate court agreed and discharged Mireku but the police rearrested him and arraigned him before the Circuit Court for trial.
