COVID-19: StarTimes donates 10,000 face masks to Police

Digital TV operator StarTimes Ghana has donated 10,000 pieces of disposable face masks to the Police Administration as part of the company’s corporate social responsibility to help fight the Covid-19 pandemic.

A delegation led by the Chief Operating Officer od StarTimes Ghana, Mr Felix Ahonzo, presented the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to representatives of the Police service at the Police Headquarters today in Accra.

Mr Ahonzo mentioned that the donation was in recognition of the key security role the police is playing across the country during the pandemic.

“The Police Service renders an invaluable contribution to the state on daily basis, through the expeditious performance of its mandatory functions; providing security and ensuring the maintenance of law and order and this gesture by StarTimes is to support the Police in this pandemic era and to appreciate them for risking their lives daily for Ghanaians. They should stay safe and follow the COVID-19 protocols,” Mr Ahonzo said.

Receiving the donation on behalf of the Police Administration, COP Mrs Maame Yaa Tiwaah Addo-Danquah, Director General Welfare expressed gratitude to the company for the gesture.

She said the face masks would assist police officers who have been assigned to voter registration centres, patrol and other security duties.

She also urged other corporate bodies to emulate StarTimes by supporting the police with COVID-19 prevention equipment such as hand sanitisers, PPE and gloves.

COP Addo-Danquah also implored StarTimes and the Ghanaian media to also project good deeds of the Police.
