Court remands three suspected imposters
The Kuntanase Magistrate Court presided over by Francis Ana-Am Asakiya on Friday remanded three young men alleged to be “military imposters” into police custody for two weeks.
The three whose pleas were not taken are to re-appear on 10th August, 2020 after being provisionally charged with impersonation, unlawful possession of military accoutrements and assault.

Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Emmanuel Aboagye Ansah, told the court that on Thursday, 23rd July, 2020 at about 2:14 pm, the assembly member for Piase electoral area in the Bosomtwe District of Ashanti, Mr. Daniel Owusu Forjour alerted the Kuntanase Police that two young men dressed in military uniforms and claiming to be military officers were assaulting and arresting people in the community.
The prosecutor said the police quickly rushed to Piase and upon their arrival observed the two men dressed in military uniforms had assaulted and arrested some people for allegedly smoking Indian hemp and extorted money from them.
He said the police arrested the two who gave their details as N0. 211579 AC2 Sarfo Emmanuel, aged 29, of the Air Force Command in Accra and a ‘private soldier’ Bernard Ofori with registration number No. 211461 aged 30 of the 4BN, Kumasi.
The prosecutor said the police also arrested an accomplice, one Bismarck Dankwa Asare who was driving a Nissan Sunny private saloon car with registration number GS 4447-10, which car brought the suspects to the community.
The prosecutor stated that upon their arrest, they had in their possession an amount of GH¢88 being money they forcibly collected from their victims including one Ofori Donkor who was their last victim they assaulted before their arrest.
Other items found on them apart from the military uniforms, were a military name tag bearing the name Prince Acquah Adomako with registration N0. 211445, a military bag, a knife and a handcuff.
Chief Inspector Emmanuel Aboagye Ansah said before going to court, the Kuntanase Police checked with the Military high command and established that the two were not military personnel.
He stated that the Nissan Sunny car has been impounded as they continue with further investigation.
