Couple installed development chiefs at Agona Nkum
The Chief of Agona Nkum in the Central Region, Nana Nyarko Etua III, has called on well-to-do citizens of the various communities in the country to give the necessary financial and material support for the development of those communities.

He particularly asked citizens who had had the opportunity to live abroad to help replicate some of the basic projects and programmes that would make life comfortable for the citizenry back home in Ghana.
“Though we recognise that you individually have struggled to make your wealth, once you have it, it is more of a blessing to come to the aid of the needy,” he said.
The traditional ruler was giving a commendation speech in honour of Reverend Dr Kingsley Arthur, a native of the town, and his German wife, Mrs Barbara Arthur, who have both been installed development chiefs for their contribution towards the progress of Agona Nkum.
Dr Arthur, as Nkosuohen, has the stool name Nana Kwame Atta Abban, while his wife is known as Ohemaa Oburoni Efua Atta Abban.
Their installation, which was done during the celebration of this year’s Akwambo Festival of the chiefs and people of the area a couple of weeks ago, was in recognition of the various projects undertaken by the couple towards the development of the town and the progress of its citizens.
Projects undertaken
According to the chiefs and people of the town, the couple, through their non-governmental organisation, ‘Give to Eat Mission Ghana’, had undertaken a number of projects and programmes, including an annual free health screening which they instituted in 2010 to address the health problems of the people.
The couple had also facilitated the visit of a team of medical officers from Germany to undertake the exercise since its institution.
The people also testified that to help improve education in the area, particularly at the basic level, the couple, for the past four years, had been providing free lunch twice a week for pupils of the Nkum Catholic Basic School and that had helped to increase enrolment and boost punctuality among the schoolchildren.
Expression of gratitude
Acknowledging the honour done him and his wife, Nana Atta Abban thanked the chiefs and the people and commended them for making it possible for him and the wife to complement their efforts towards accelerating the development of the town.
“Development can only be realised when people are prepared and willing to move away from primitive life to the adoption of social methods that facilitate progress,” he said.
