Cop, daughter die in crash at Suhum Amanease

A police officer with the Konongo Police Division in the Ashanti Region, Sergeant Daniel Abotsi, has been killed in an accident that occurred at Suhum Amanease in the Eastern region.

He was driving an Opel Astra in the company of his daughter when the accident occurred on Monday April 16.

ASP Ebenezer Tetteh, the Eastern Regional Police Public Relations Officer, who confirmed the incident said : “On April 16th at about 6:30, Sergeant Daniel Abotsi of Konongo police division was in charge of his Opel Astra driving from Accra towards Kumasi with his daughter who is yet to be identified.

“On reaching a section of the road at Amanase near Suhum, he veered off his lane and collided head-on with a Metro Mass Transit bus with registration number GR- 4732-Z driven by Seidu Clifford, who was also from Koforidua to Accra with passengers on board.”

“The police officer with his daughter died on the spot. The two accident vehicles have been moved from the road paving way for the free flow of traffic with arrangements being made to tow the vehicles to the police station to assist investigations.”

ASP Ebenezer Tetteh added that, “suspect driver Seidu Clifford has been detained to assist police carry out further investigations. I will use this platform to caution drivers and other road users to exercise restraint and adhere to all road regulations”.
