Committee to probe importation of expired chemicals

The committee has six days within which to present its report.

Alhaji Dauda, who expressed outrage at the reports, said the law would take its course if officials were found culpable in the importation of the chemical.

He stated that the government had promised to provide the people of Ghana safe water, for which reason it would not compromise on its commitment to ensure that its promise was kept.

The minister said the committee was expected to come up with recommendations to guide the government to forestal a recurrence of the problem.

The committee’s terms of reference are to determine if the GUWC imported expired chemicals into the country, the circumstances leading to the procurement of the chemicals, as well as find out if any of those chemicals have been used for water treatment.

It is also to look into any other matters that are related to the report.
