According to him, the country lost 1,000 lives every year through road accidents, a worrying trend that threatened the human capital of the economy.

Mr Glover made the call at a thanksgiving service to climax the 50th anniversary celebrations of the Lorenz Wolf Evangelical Presbyterian (EP) Church in Tema Community One.

The anniversary was marked on the theme: “Fifty Years of Sustainable Discipleship-Christ our Strength.”

Needless accidents Mr Glover, who is also the Member of Parliament (MP) for Tema East, said the government and families spent so much money and resources to train their children and within a split of a second they were either knocked down or involved in an accident that took their lives.

As a result, there is the need for religious bodies and heads of institutions to educate their members on the need to be cautious while using the road.

“We are spirits, we have a soul and we live in a body, and as such we must take care of the body to make our stay on the earth relevant,” he stated.

He appealed to members to pray and support the government to continue to roll out more policies to better the lot of Ghanaians.

Background The Tema District Pastor of the E P Church, Rev. Emmanuel Amegbletor, recounted the history of the church in which he stated that Lorenz Wolf founded the church.

He said the Tema church was born out of the singing and evangelistic activities of the then Trinity Choir, now Good News Choir, and a few other people at the Padmore Primary School in Community One.

Rev. Amegbletor said the Golden Jubilee had been a year-long celebration with purposeful, eventful and relevant activities such as tree planting, a quiz competition for children, cooking competition, games and fun fair.

He urged members to continue to strive for perfection as Christ expected of his followers and also ensure that they became each other’s keeper by praying for those in
leadership and the entire country.
