Christians asked to lead govt efforts for development
Christians have been encouraged not to sit on the fence but lead efforts by both the central government and district assemblies to develop their communities.

The President of the Brong Ahafo Presbyterian Church Choirs’ Union, Mr Amo-Badu Brobbey, who encouraged the Christians, said it was incumbent on Christians not only to preach the gospel, but also to use their good deeds as well to win more souls for Christ.
“I charge you as Christians not to sit on the fence but join hands with your various district assemblies and unit committees towards the development of your localities. Let us set examples for others to follow by participating in programmes organised to develop our areas,” he said.
He was addressing a four-day 53rd annual Presbytery Conference of the union at Nsoatre, which was held on the theme: “When the Holy Spirit Moves – Our Songs Must Set Captives Free (Ezekiel 4: 6).”
Mr Brobbey asked Christians to be ambassadors of peace and encourage people to avoid unhealthy political discussions that would disturb the current peaceful atmosphere in the country.
He observed that Christians could achieve their evangelism mission if there was peace in the country and, therefore, charged the choristers to strive towards unity through their songs.
Live up to calling
Mr Brobbey challenged choristers to live up to their calling “and let our lives reflect the lyrics of the songs that we sing so that we ourselves will not be stumbling blocks towards the church’s “evangelistic mission.”
He said it was unfortunate that names of some choristers had been the case with various vices that should not be associated with Christians.
“Let us confront these issues at our local and district levels and make sure our names are not dragged in the mud but rather use our holy lives to complement the melodious songs that we sing in other to have a positive impact on our listeners,” he said.
District Chief Executive
In an address read for him, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Sunyani West, Mr Martin Obeng, commended the Presbyterian Church for embarking on a number of socio-economic ventures to assist the government to develop the country.
He called on other religious bodies to emulate such gestures by using part of their income to initiate projects and programmes that would improve on the lives of people in the towns and villages in which they operated.
The Minister of Employment and Labour Relation, Mr Ignatius Baffuor-Awuah, who is also the Member of Parliament (MP) for Sunyani West, was present at the conference.
