Canada is committed to assisting Ghana's development - Canadian minister
The Canadian Government has expressed the commitment to increase its development assistance to Ghana beyond the annual $100 million.

“We wish to assure you that our development assistance of $100 million every year to Ghana will not be reduced but more will be added,” the Canadian International Trade Minister has said, without giving an indication of how much more would be added.
Mr Ed Fast said this when he led a 29-member Canadian business delegation to pay a courtesy call on the Vice-President, Mr Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur, at the Flagstaff House Thursday.
He said the two countries had a tremendous potential to leverage trade imbalance between them.
Mr Fast noted that Ghana had been a strategic partner of Canada for a period spanning more than 55 years and emphasised the need for the two countries to move their ties to higher heights.
The Vice-President for his part commended Canada for its support for Ghana, particularly the petroleum industry, water and sanitation.
He stressed the government’s commitment to create an environment that would work towards improving the lives of majority of the people, adding that “we have created an environment that would help grow the economy”.
Mr Amissah-Arthur said although the government appreciated the support from Canada, there was the need for the two countries to collaborate and venture into other areas of the economy.
