Bloodbath at Asesewa as Fulani herdsmen clash
A 27-year old herdsman, Omaro Belo lost his right wrist and sustained a huge cut on the same arm as he attempted to separate a fight among colleague herdsmen on Wednesday, July 22, 2020.
The bloody encounter which occurred at the Akateng market near Asesewa, a suburb of the Upper Manya Krobo District in the Eastern Region, also saw four others who worked with the victim at the same market sustain various degrees of injuries.

According to a police report on the incident, Aliu Belo, aged 25, sustained a deep cut on his forehead; 28-year old Moro Mahamadu had his throat slashed; whereas 27-year old Omaro Ali and Omaro Abubakar also sustained some injuries in the process.
The victims are cattle sellers at the old animal market (Old Tulaku) at Akateng.
The injured were admitted to the Asesewa Government Hospital, however, three of the victims namely; Omaro Belo, Moro Mahamadu and Omaro Abubakar were referred to the Eastern Regional Hospital in Koforidua for further care.
Investigation
According to the Deputy Public Relations Officer of the Eastern Regional Police Command, Sergeant Francis Gomado, investigations have commenced into the matter to ascertain the perpetrators of the said barbaric act and arraign them before court for prosecution.
He said a statement by Omaro Belo suggested that one Alhaji Hilli who was said to have come from Nkawkaw, instructed his herdsmen (also Fulani) to attack one Jiji in the market after he felt disrespected by the latter who demanded the replacement of a rope he (Alhaji) collected some weeks ago to fasten a cow he had sold to a client.
The report also indicated that in the course of saving his compatriot Jiji from an attempted hack, he blocked the machete with his arm, losing the wrist in the process.
The police have launched a search for Alhaji Hilli to assist with investigation.
Sergeant Gomado noted that the herdsmen within the enclaves of Upper Manya Krobo were previously warned on several occasions to desist from bringing cutlasses to the market following an earlier altercation.
