The project, which began in August 2012, is being executed by Kofi Job Company Limited and is expected to be completed and handed over by the end of February this year.

The Asikuma-Odoben Brakwa District Chief Executive (DCE), Mr Samuel Adom Botchway, and other officials of the district assembly last Friday paid a visit to the project site to inspect the progress of work.

At the time of the visit, workers of the construction company were busily working to complete the work ahead of schedule.

Interview

In an interview with the media, Mr Adom Botchway said the government had invested a lot of resources into the early completion of the project.

He said the reconstruction of the road, which extends to Akim Oda in the Eastern Region, would enhance the movement of goods and people in the area.

According to him, the government will make sure that all bad roads in the area are rehabilitated in order to attract investment into the district.

Commendation

He commended the Member of Parliament for the area, Mrs Georgina Nkrumah Aboah, for playing an instrumental role in getting the road rehabilitated.

He expressed satisfaction with the quality of work that was being done by the contractor and said he was hopeful that funds would be released in time to enable the contractor to execute the second phase of the project.

Drivers

A taxi driver, Mr Ishmael Ghartey, commended the government for tackling the road project, which is an important amenity for the people in the area as they depend on it for their business and social interactions.

He said drivers who used the road spent a lot on spare parts due to its bad nature. He said he was glad that it was finally being repaired.

Another driver, Prince Nkrumah Obeng, urged his colleagues to drive carefully on the road when it was completed in order not to have accidents.

The DCE and his team also inspected ongoing works on the reconstruction of a 10.5 kilometre feeder road from Brakwa to Afofosu.
