Asantehene commends DCOP Kofi Boakye
The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has described the Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Nathan Kofi Boakye, as a police officer extraordinaire whose professionalism has brought sanity and relative peace to the region.

He said the police commander’s ‘no nonsense’ approach to tackling crime and his insistence on what is right, irrespective of the personality involved, deserved commendation and emulation.
The Asantehene said for DCOP Kofi Boakye, who has served in office under the regimes of the two leading political parties, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP), to still muster courage to arrest or go after persons belonging to both parties who fall foul of the law, attested to his exhibition of high professionalism.
The Asantehene commended the police commander when he welcomed a delegation from the Ministry of Local Government, headed by the sector minister, Mr Julius Debrah, to the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi. The team had called on the Asantehene to seek the support of chiefs in the region for the government’s new initiative on sanitation.
Apparently awed by Otumfuo’s comment, DCOP Kofi Boakye momentarily stood at attention and saluted the king in appreciation for his kind words.
Since taking over as the regional police boss, DCOP Kofi Boakye has brought armed robbery attacks and other crimes to low levels, which has increased public confidence in the police. People are now able to visit places which were hitherto no go areas.
He has transformed the physical structures of the Regional Police Headquarters, making it a place of attraction for schools and other institutions.
Following assistance from public-spirited individuals, the grounds of the police headquarters in the region have all been tiled and all the old wooden doors replaced with sliding ones.
All police stations in the region are currently undergoing major rehabilitation while stalls and kiosks owned by the wives of police officers and placed haphazardly on the station’s premises have all been pulled down as part of a beautification process.
The well-built police officer has insisted that policemen always appear neat and their names boldly embossed on the breast pocket of their shirts for easy identification.
