Anthology of a Life Time to be launched July 10

On July 10, 2019, Dr Letitia Obeng’s latest book, ANTHOLOGY OF A LIFE TIME, will be launched at 5 p.m. at the Ghana Academy of Arts and Sciences, in Accra.

Anthology of a Life Time is a selection from the distinguished scientist’s talks, speeches, writings and publications produced during the last 60 years.

The launch will be chaired by the Minister of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, Professor Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng, with Senior Minister Mr Yaw Osafo Maafo as the Special Guest.

The published documents in the anthology have been selected to cover a range of views and thoughts on issues of development and the world.

Last year, the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, in the UK, awarded Dr Obeng the School’s first Honorary Doctor of Science degree in its 120-year history, some 50 years after she obtained a PhD degree from the school.

It was her second Honorary DSc award in a year. Prior to that, in November, 2017, the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, where Dr Obeng was one of the first lecturers in the early fifties, had awarded her an Honorary DSc.

Dr Obeng is well known for her instrumental role in the establishment of Ghana’s Institute of Aquatic Biology of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research. Notable among her career achievements is that, she was the first female President of the Ghana Academy of Arts and Sciences.
