Women, children and men, many of them clad in red clothes, were seen weeping when the Daily Graphic went to the town.

A number of people were seen in small groups discussing what had befallen Mr Danquah-Adu.

Tributes

Some taxi drivers had hoisted the flag of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), the political party of the late legislator, on their cars.

Almost every member of the community interviewed described the late MP "as generous, a good person and someone who would forever be remembered for his good deeds in the constituency”.

The Daily Graphic was shown a newly built sanitary facility which was to be inaugurated by J.B., as he was affectionately called in the constituency.

Leaders of some of the local churches praised the generosity of Mr Danquah-Adu.

“Unravel the myth”

A sister of the deceased, Ms Lydia Adobea, who was emotional, said the legislator was feverishly preparing for an annual end-of-year party for children in the constituency and had indicated his wish to ensure that all children from New Tafo, Old Tafo and Kukurantumi would attend.

She did not understand why someone would deliberately take the life of another human being and, therefore, urged the police to do due diligence by unravelling the myth surrounding the whole issue.

A spokesperson for the family, Mr Frank Oduro, also described the late MP as sociable and approachable; he had time for individuals irrespective of their status.

A wailing resident, Akosua Okyere, said but for "J.B., my son would not have enjoyed university education” and prayed that the perpetrators of the crime would be arrested and dealt with.
