‘ADR is complementary to traditional court system’

He said it had also helped reduce substantially the backlog of cases in the courts due to the mass mediation exercise.

“This clearly indicates that the ADR mechanism is a reliable partner for the traditional justice delivery system and must, therefore, be embraced and nurtured for an efficient justice delivery system,” he said.

Mr Justice Graves said currently the ADR had been extended to 47 district and circuit courts in the country, with at least three mediators assigned to each of the courts.

Additionally, 180 mediators had been trained and assigned to those 47 courts connected to the ADR programme so far, he said.
