The presiding judge of the Odumase Krobo Circuit Court, Mr Frank Gbeddy, said it was a murder case and the docket should be referred to the attorney general’s office for advice while the suspects be kept at the Akuse Prisons to reappear at a later date.

The police are, however, looking for the theatre assistant to arrest him.

The facts of the case as presented by Detective Inspector Simon Kwadzo Gavor to the court were that Rebecca and Nicco were partners who worked underground to do abortions for people.

He said Augustina was the younger sister of the deceased, Comfort Nakie Kwabla, aged 26, who was seven months pregnant.

According to the prosecutor, on March 27, 2016, at about 9:00 a:m., the deceased went to the Atua Government Hospital with the intention of getting rid of her seven months old pregnancy.

She, therefore, met Nicco and informed him of her intention.

Nicco willingly agreed to assist her terminate the pregnancy at a lesser cost to which the deceased also agreed.

The prosecutor said Nicco led the deceased to Rebecca at Kpong and gave her instruction as to how to go about the abortion and he left.

Afterwards, Rebecca said she injected the deceased in order to get rid of the pregnancy.

He said later in the day, the deceased started feeling pains in her stomach and the situation became more serious the next morning.

Augustina, seeing the condition of her elder sister, became desperate and decided to assist her.

She, therefore, gave the sister a concoction to drink.

According to the prosecutor Augustina seeing that the sister was in critical condition called Rebecca on phone and informed her and she immediately proceeded to the house of the deceased and during interrogation Augustina confessed to her that she gave her sister the concoction because she realised that the injection could not work as they were expecting.

Detective Inspector Gavor said on March 29, at about 12:00 a:m., the complainant received a phone call from his daughter, Augustina, that Comfort was seriously sick.

The complainant went home the following day and saw his sick daughter in the presence of Augustina.

The complainant inquired from Augustina whether she gave her sister any medication but she denied.

The prosecutor said the following day the condition of the deceased deteriorated and she was rushed to the Atua Government Hospital for medical attention but she died shortly on arrival.
