This number, representing eight per cent of the total number of qualified candidates, could not get the placement because they scored Grade 9 or failed in either English or Mathematics.

A statement issued by the acting Director General of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Professor Kwasi Opoku-Amankwa, said 267,327 candidates secured placements in schools of their choice, while 150,770 candidates could not be placed in the schools of their choice.

“They are being given the second chance of choosing schools. The qualified candidates who did not get schools of their choice should go online and select from the options available within 48 hours from today,” the statement, dated August 31, 2017, said.

It said candidates could check their status from 8 a.m. on September 1, 2017 by logging onto www.myjhsresult.net and follow the online instructions.

Text to check

The statement advised candidates who wished to know the schools where they had been placed to add 17 to their 10-digit index numbers and text to short code 1060 on MTN, Vodafone, Airtel and Tigo.
