The two organisations also donated some personal protective equipment (PPE), including disposable face masks, methylated spirit, hand sanitisers and hand gloves to the Sang Health Centre to help protect the health workers at the facility in the discharge of their duties.

Education

The two organisations also embarked on a community sensitisation exercise to educate the people on the COVID -19 and the relevant precautionary measures to combat it.

The Project Officer of RAINS, Ms Gloria W. Akugri, who presented the items on behalf of the two organisations, advised that the items be placed at vantage places for the benefit of the public.

She said the two organisations were also embarking on a sensitisation and education campaign to ensure that the beneficiary communities adhered to the safety protocols to contain the spread of COVID-19.

She said the sensitisation campaign was to enhance total compliance with the safety protocols necessary to overcome the disease.

She said RAINS was committed to promoting the rights of the marginalised in the society, and therefore, found it necessary to support the fight against the spread of COVID-19.

Recipient

A staff nurse at the Sang Health Centre, Mr Abdul-Hanan Dason Anas, said the facility was seriously in need of PPE.

“Since the outbreak of COVID-19, the Mion District Assembly has supported us with some PPE but we have never had enough,” he said.

He indicated that the health centre had provided nose masks to visitors to the facility to ensure that they observed the safety protocols at the centre.

"We, therefore, need more support in terms of PPE," he added.
