VR basic schools receive laptops

He said access to computers in all basic schools was part of the government’s programme to raise the  quality of education

Mr Ocran said in line with the computers for all schools programme, the use of chalkboards would soon be discarded for projectors to facilitate classroom instruction.

 He opposed the free senior high school proposal of some political parties, saying it was better for the nation to extend access to education and provide infrastructure.

Mr Ocran said Ghana was not doing badly in the education sector as other countries kept sending delegation to understudy some of the nation’s educational programmes.

Mr Henry Ametefe, the Deputy Regional Minister, who received the laptops on behalf of the schools, promised that the laptops would be distributed expeditiously.

Mr Bright Dey, the acting Head of the Planning and Statistics Unit of the Ghana Education Service and Regional ICT Co-ordinator, said criteria for the selection of the beneficiary schools included the readiness of the communities to provide security for the gadgets.
