A two-day intensive course on negotiation skills that was organised by the Centre of Management Research and Professional Development of the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS) has ended in Accra.

The course was intended to improve the negotiation skills of participants and encourage more harmonious environment at the workplace. Participants included employers and employees.

The programme was also part of the ongoing activities to mark the 50th anniversary celebrations of the UGBS.

The course content included Preparing for Negotiations, Strategies for Negotiations, Skills of a Negotiator, Dealing with Difficult Situations and Feedback in Negotiations and the programme was capped with a practical role-playing lesson on a case study for the participants

The Course Facilitator, Mrs Eudora Koranteng, stressed the importance of the course, saying negotiation always played a key role in our everyday lives.

“We are negotiating among ourselves everyday; negotiating with spouses, friends, family and in business transactions. In most cases, a lot of things are taken for granted and we do not get the desired results because we do not use the right approach,” she said.

Participants also expressed satisfaction with the topics handled during the course and commended the facilitator for making it more realistic and practical.
