During the exercise, a total of 500 trees were planted.

The initiative by the trust fund, which was the second, aimed at supporting the national tree planting project (Green Ghana Day) to protect the environment.

Awareness

According to the Chief Executive Officer of the SLTF, Nana Kwaku Agyei Yeboah, the exercise was aimed at promoting environmental sustainability and increasing awareness about the importance of tree planting.

“We chose to involve the students of the Apeguso SHS because environmental awareness needs to be inculcated in citizens from a very young age,” he said.

Participating in the exercise were the Director of Finance and Administration of the SLTF, Justice Wiafe Sarkodie; the Asuogyaman District Director of NADMO, David Sosu, and the Headmistress of the Apeguso SHS, Victoria Asabea Badu.

At the event, Mr Sarkodie urged the students to nurture the trees to ensure that they reached maturity and served the purpose for which they were planted.

Education

The SLTF used the opportunity to educate staff and students of the school on the No Guarantor Students Loan Policy.

Students were urged to take advantage of the policy to finance their tertiary education.

After the engagement, the SLTF donated some farming tools and cash to the school.

Members of the community were also sensitised in a separate engagement.

Parents were reminded of the importance of higher education for upward social mobility.

They were also encouraged to take advantage of government initiatives, including the student loan scheme to increase access to tertiary education.
