Mpehuasem Campus of ATU to be ready next academic year
The Accra Technical University (ATU) will from next academic year begin using its campus located at Mpehuasem in the Ga West Municipality in the Greater Accra Region.
This will pave the way for the electrical engineering students who will be the first set of students to use the modern facility to complement their theoretical studies.

This was disclosed by the Vice-Chancellor of ATU, Professor Samuel Nii Odai, when he paid a working visit to the new campus to ascertain the readiness of the facilities to commence operation and to plant trees as part of the Green Ghana agenda
“Currently we have most of the equipment in and we are training some of the technicians,” he said, adding that when the capus was in use, buses would be made available to convey students from the Kinbu Campus to the new campus.
For students studying mechanical engineering, he said their workshop would be fully operational in August.
Planting
The tree planting exercise is a sequel to the first phase of the university’s tree planting campaign, which commenced on June 18 this year on its main campus.
The team of over 100 people included students, staff of the school and members of the old students association and they planted mostly mahogany and Royal Palm seedlings to better serve the reserve.
The seedlings were acquired through the benevolence of the Forestry Commission of Ghana, environmental advocates from Malik Mino Ereira and Soni Valecha, all representatives of Waste Segregation and Composting Movement and Plant Waves.
The team arrived on the new campus at exactly 10:00 a.m and most students who were visiting the campus for the first time took turns to tour the various facilities with the Vice-Chancellor.
It was a rare opportunity that combined school and leisure as they visited the new campus to plant the seedlings in support of the Green Ghana Project.
Also present for the exercise was the Pro-Vice Chancellor of the School, Professor Amevi Acakpovi; the Registrar, Mrs Sylvia Oppong-Mensah; the Vice-Dean, Ing Sarah Fanny Duncan, members of the Students Representative Council and other partners.
Prof. Odai said the ATU had targeted a total of 130 trees to plant and nurture as part of the initiative.
Security
Prof. Odai said four security posts had been installed and more security officers had been recruited.
He added that the school was engaging the Regional Director of Roads “and we are very confident that they will be able to help us to improve the road condition so that using this campus will be a thing of joy rather than stress.”
