MP tells JHS graduates to avoid immoral acts

Junior High School (JHS) students, who  completed their Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) on Monday, have been advised to desist from immoral behaviour as they await the results of the examination.

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Weija/Gbawe, Ms Rosemund Comfort Abrah, who gave the advice when she interacted with some students, asked them to be careful since such immoral acts could prevent them from pursuing higher  academic laurels.

Interacting with some of the JHS students, the MP made a reference to activities such as the ‘leavers jam’ which takes place throughout the country to welcome the JHS leavers after they have completed the BECE.

She said it was unfortunate that instead of using such an activity to educate themselves, some of them who considered themselves as adults indulged in all sorts of immoral behaviours.

Ms Abrah who is also a retired educationist, reminded the school leavers that it would be better for those who could not   enter  second cycle institutions to further their education, to  to learn a vocation to make a living for themselves.

She appealed to parents to refrain from pampering their children, especially girls, who had completed their JHS education and also to avoid pushing them into early marriages, since that could ruin their lives.

“You should assist them to grow to become useful adults”, she said, adding that the situation whereby some parents would use their wealth on expensive funerals to the detriment of the education of their children was not the best.

“Bringing up a child is like computer system. If you put in garbage you will get garbage at the end of the day”.
