MAMTECH commends government, appeals to President to honour auditorium promise

Mampong Technical College of Education (MAMTECH) has expressed appreciation to the government of Ghana for its various interventions at the college, while simultaneously appealing to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to fulfil his personal promise to build an auditorium for the institution.

During a media engagement, MAMTECH Principal Doris Boakye-Ansah highlighted the numerous educational initiatives implemented by the Akufo-Addo government, including infrastructure expansion for students and staff, the provision of state-of-the-art Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) resources, and the retooling of all departments.

However, Principal Boakye-Ansah acknowledged that the 100-year-old institution lacks an auditorium suitable for large gatherings. She thus appealed to President Akufo-Addo to honour his personal pledge made during the 83rd birthday party of the paramount chief of Asante Mampong, Daasebere Osei Bonsu II.

"The President mentioned that his personal commitment to the college is to assist in constructing an auditorium before the conclusion of his tenure," Principal Boakye-Ansah remarked.

MAMTECH has prepared the land for the construction of a 3,500-capacity auditorium estimated at GH¢6 million. The realization of this project, as promised by President Akufo-Addo, would bring great relief to the institution.

While extending gratitude to all those who supported the MAMTECH@100 celebration, the principal called upon other stakeholders, particularly alumni of the college, to contribute to the realization of the auditorium project.

Through government support, Mampong Technical College of Education has established a modern sewing centre that provides opportunities for girls and women in Asante Mampong and the surrounding areas to learn fashion design, contributing to the reduction of unemployment rates.
